DIRECTOR OF SCIENTIFIC AFFAIRS

PRIMARY FUNCTION:
This experienced leader will lead a team of professionals to 1) create HCP awareness, acceptance and advocacy, and 2) educate HCPs and customers on use of in vivo products, and 3) develop clinical applications for the company's new in-vivo products (continuous glucose monitoring and insulin pump). This leader will set the vision and goals for firmly establishing the in-vivo products' clinical relevance product use, and importance in the diabetes community. This role requires a healthcare savvy individual who possess a wide range of staff management and team leadership skills that will facilitate timely outcomes and enhance clinician and diabetes customers' satisfaction.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
Responsible for implementing and maintaining the effectiveness of the quality system.
- Develop and implement Scientific Affairs integrated strategies and tactics in support of marketed and pre-market in vivo products. Partner with internal stakeholders (Commercial and R&D) to ensure departmental priorities and strategies are aligned with overall business objectives.
- Oversee daily operational activities and lead field-based Clinical Science Managers. Manages
performance of direct reports - including recruiting, hiring and retention. Facilitates core training and professional development for all levels of direct reports
- Manages large external field nursing educational support team for optimizing patient success in use of in vivo products
- Coordinate professional relation strategies with ADC professional relations team
- Become HCP and CSm field advocate internally to report emerging market, product opportunities or
issues
- Identify, manage and nurture the relationship with KOLs and "Center of Excellence" clinics. Work with KOLs to develop clinical applications for the in-vivo products.
- Identify and develop strategic relationships with key opinion leaders and decision makers in the
healthcare field in general and in the diabetes community specifically.
- Ensure training and compliance of all members of the SA team to applicable regulations and guidelines
- Demonstrates on-going scientific and business expertise relevant to diabetes management area
- Plans and manages team financial resources

Qualifications
EDUCATION:
Indicate the minimum education and why it is required.
Required: Master's Degree
Certification: CDE, PA

Preferred: Ph.D

Provides immediate credibility and fluency with clinicians, KOLs and Scientific Affairs team.


BACKGROUND:
Knowledge of regulations and standards affecting IVDs and Biologics.

-Healthcare experience- min 10 years including at least 3 years in diabetes
-Scientific/Medical affairs experience - min 10 years
-Clinical experience - min 5 years
-Sales experience - min 3 years
-Business experience - min 5 years
-People management experience - min 10 years
-Product development and launch experience

ACCOUNTABILITY/SCOPE:
This leader is directly accountable for ensuring advocacy and clinical successful application and acceptance of the product by our identified KOLs. Additionally, this leader will be held accountable for the conduct of our Scientific Affairs team and will be a company clinical representative or spokesperson to world leaders in diabetes care.
