Position Description:
The position will serve as a lead position for Product Development operations. The position will be specialized in formulation for viral products. The individual will be responsible for assisting with experimental designs strategies within the scientific discipline, optimize production processes in order to produce pre clinical lots. The incumbent supervises, trains, motivates, and empowers technicians to perform assigned tasks. Experiments, studies, and processes should meet good laboratory practices, and company and regulatory agency standards., and maintaining equipment and supplies. Incumbent completes assignments and then makes next step recommendation(s) to Supervisor/Scientist for approval. Serves as a member of Project Team Subgroups and Departmental Working groups. The individual will be directly involved with transfer of process to manufacturing. The position requires indirect supervision and training of non-exempt personnel to ensure timely completion of experiments and to accomplish Departmental and Corporate/Project Team objectives.
? Based on project timelines, schedule appropriate work assuring all materials and resources are planned, equipment and facilities prepared for the operations, and appropriately trained personnel scheduled.
? At the direction of the Development Scientists and Platform Manager, recommend, design, execute and analyze experiments for the development of a process step, a test design, a test method, or a trial process. Documents are subject to scientific review and functional group review.
? Prepares, presents and maintains technical reports (SOPs, BPRs, Validation, Notebooks, etc.). Trains others and transfers specific technology or methodology to other internal and external (when appropriate) customers. Reports issues and negotiates resources within the functional group.
? Maintains equipment, maintains safety awareness, recommends capital purchases, maintains laboratory supplies, and maintains cGLP.
? Participates actively with Project Team subgroups and internal working groups providing technical information, reporting on issues, and participating with external and internal technology transfer. Communication both to and from the subgroups and the Platform Manager is a critical component of this duty.
Qualifications:
PhD in Biochemistry or Virology, Life Science, or related field of study or equivalent experience.
Demonstrated experience with current biological manufacturing; Chemistry, Biochemistry, Design of Experiments, Analytical Techniques, Formulation processes
