Think What's Possible.Reporting to the Global Head of Clinical Research and Biostatistics, the Director of Clinical Research will be based in Parsippany, NJ. He/She will, on a global basis, be responsible for providing medical and scientific expertise for the Prevacid pain franchise and ensure state-of-the-art clinical program and trial design, planning, and reporting. The Director of Clinical Research will also serve as a development champion for the analgesics area, a growing and high-profile division of the Novartis OTC business.. The Director of Clinical Research will interact with project management, marketing, regulatory, medical affairs, business development and licensing, and other departments as needed and will be working closely with colleagues based in Nyon, Switzerland, where part of the clinical research staff is located.

Qualifications
The ideal candidate will be an M.D. with five to fifteen years of clinical research pharmaceutical industry experience which should include some analgesics experience. The successful candidate's experience will likely include clinical development design and planning, management of thought leaders and academic clinicians, familiarity with ICH and GCP guidelines (including clinical SOPs) as well as IND requirements, and analysis and presentation of study results. Leadership skills are desirable because this position will interact with other key functions within Novartis and critical outside constituents as well. Experience working with CROs is desirable. Experience working with the FDA and other regulatory agencies and experience interacting with biostatisticians, clinical QA, business development, and marketing would be helpful as well. International experience would also be a plus. A results-oriented team player with strong interpersonal and communication skills would be ideal for this position. The successful candidate will be high-energy, outgoing, customer-focused, decisive and tactful. A sense of urgency and positive "can do" attitude are also critical.
