Director of Supply Chain

This So Cal based, highly respected organization is seeking a ?Top Gun?-caliber Director of Supply Chain to lead its? procurement, inventory control, and cost management activities.

 

Job Summary:

The Director of Supply Chain will provide the leadership and direction to implement a highly effective and efficient supply chain to support customer requirements. This business leader will help foster an environment where the hallmarks are personal development, outstanding results, and pride of workmanship. You will be principally responsible for establishing / continuously improving the systems, processes, tools, and employee skill-sets that enable the Company to effectively procure, account for, and control the gross margins around all materials and services provided to its customers.

 

Key Responsibilities:

? Manage inventory levels to meet budget guidelines and goals.

? Coordinate with Sales to develop forecasts of demand and establish target stock levels.

? Participate in company-wide strategic and tactical planning processes.

? Set inventory management policies in cooperation with Sales and Finance.

? Develop effective supplier partnerships based on solid match-ups of requirements and capabilities, great communications, and shared mutual goals.

? Oversee the daily activities associated with the purchase and delivery of raw ingredients, processed intermediates, and MRO items.

? Control and continuously improve internal departmental processes and those that link to our suppliers.

 

Significant Duties:

? Maintain correctly balanced inventory levels on all materials to optimize service levels and efficient use of capital.

? Assist the purchasing team in enhancing their negotiating skills with the objectives of improving margins, quality, and delivery, and in developing reliable, long term supplier relationships.

? Ensure the quality and on time delivery of purchased items in support of delivery schedules and customer requirements.

? Play a lead role in improving the quality of communication and developing an efficient, productive interface between departments that touch the purchase-to-payment cycle.

? Ensure the accuracy of cost / margin measurement and reporting tools and provide for their regular upkeep and continuous improvement.

 

Essential Qualifications:

? BS, BA required. MBA with CPIM certification strongly preferred.

? Extensive experience in organizing, developing, motivating, mentoring and directing a staff skilled in supply chain management, including: Purchasing, Planning, Inventory Control, Quality, Warehousing, Traffic, and Logistics.

 

Knowledge Of:

? Quality and relevant regulatory agency (mainly FDA) requirements.

? Standard and/or process costing systems.

? Effective inventory planning and control techniques.

? Auditable procurement policies and practices.

? Win-win negotiating skills, and supply chain management and supplier partnering techniques.

 

Skills:Very strong organizational and personnel development skills. Focused on objectives, with an emphasis on quality, accuracy and attention to detail. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Active APICS and ISM member
