Job Duties & Responsibilities:
Andover Pilot Lab is seeking a motivated individual who will work as part of a team that is involved in the scale up, execution, and optimization of intermediate scale processes advancing through development and early clinical manufacturing. The infrastructure and equipment of the intermediate-scale cell culture operations in the Pilot lab are designed to be flexible in order to accommodate various potential mammalian biopharmaceutical processes. The scope of this position includes seed management, bioreactor operations, membrane separations, and centrifugation operations. The focus of the Pilot function is to execute these processes in a manner that is most predictive of future clinical processes through the application of relevant scale factors.

Candidates should have a solid foundation in engineering/biological principles pertaining to the area of bioreactor operations and cell culture while displaying the ability to grasp more advanced concepts and the ability to use that knowledge on a daily basis.

You will work with the cell culture team on the scale up of new processes, execution of demonstration runs and the generation of drug substance material to support toxicology and other non-cGMP supply requirements. You will also be responsible for setting up experiments, and executing and monitoring cell culture operations in a fast-paced environment. Additional responsibilities will include using your knowledge to troubleshoot and correct equipment/process related issues to ensure safety, product integrity as well as evaluating and investigating new process technologies leading to process enhancement and/or flexibility. You will be responsible for the collection and collating of data followed by thorough data analysis. The candidate must be able to present their data and conclusions when appropriate. This position will require excellent communication skills to allow for successful collaboration with development scientists, technical operations personnel, and clinical manufacturing to ensure the proper transition of processes from bench-top to manufacturing scale. In this role, the successful candidate will need to be flexible to adapt to new processes frequently as technology improvements and the pipeline of new products require.

Requirements:
BS/BA/BE in a science or engineering discipline with 2-4 years experience, or a MS with 0-2 years experience. Strong interpersonal and communication skills are essential. Candidate should have solid oral and written communication skills, and must be able to work in a team environment as well as interact with members from cross-functional teams.
Experience with the concepts of bioreactor operations, and mammalian cell cultivation considered a plus.
Position will be commensurate with level of experience and education.
