European Sales Representative

Day to Day Responsibilities:
Responsible for the sale of Epic? System products to assigned accounts or territories in Europe. Creates and develops contact with existing and potential customers. Analyzes existing and anticipated customer requirements and promotes consideration of company products to fill such requirements. Assignments are received in task and objective oriented terms.
. Work is reviewed upon completion for adequacy in meeting Ojectives. Interprets and executes policies and procedures that typically affect subordinate organizational units. Recommends modifications to operating policies.

Sensitive and responsive to multi-cultural and linguistic requirements in European market
* Provide Epic? commercial development for a label-free detection platform, Epic? System, that Corning is bringing to market in October 2006. Work with customers and applications support teams to develop interest in acquiring and selling Epic? Systems, to meet quarterly commercial placement budgets. Use European resources to organize customer seminars/training/presentations and product demonstrations
* Meet weekly with Commercial Operations Director (teleconference or live) and applications team
* Drive technology notes into accounts
* Work closely with Field Service Engineer to enable instrument repair meets customer expectation.
* Build and maintain strong customer relationships through successful customer interaction.
* Work closely with Corning Life Sciences base business commercial teams to coordinate account activities.

Required Skills
* Extensive understanding of capital instrumentation sales and capital budgeting in the pharmaceutical and biotech industries
* Must be fluent in English and German
* Previous management of capital equipment and assay sales into the Lead ID, Target ID/Validation, Lead Validation/Optimization processes of the drug discovery & development process
* Good data analysis and presentation skills
* Extensive biochemical, cell-based assays, HTS industry hands on assay experience
* Demonstrated customer resolution, training and problem solving skills
* Extensive understanding of DDD technologies and applications
* ability to travel up to 70%, internationally
* Previous management skills, commercial and multi-disciplinary technical teams

Soft Skills:
Demonstrated network of industry contacts
* Takes initiative and is able to plan European weekly, monthly and quarterly Commercial Operations activities
* Logical decision-making skills
* Able to work with team as well as lead.
* Able to present him/herself to customers and employees in a professional and technical competent manner

Education:
1. 4 Yr. Undergraduate degree (Science desired and required ) and MSc or PhD desired (or relevant work experience)

Experience:
1. Minimum 3 years work experience; HTS (Lead ID) operations at pharmaceutical or biotech company; Assay development for HTS; coupled with 3 years European life sciences capital equipment sales experience

NOTE: Position will be located in Europe / UK.
