Field Medical Physician -Oncology (Dir/Sr Dir level)

Job Summary Major Responsibilities -- Serves as a source of medical expertise for Sales & Marketing
-- Work with the Brand Teams to provide input into strategic and tactical decisions that promote AstraZeneca products. These activities include but not limited to: the maintenance of communication with opinion leaders, prominent academic & clinical investigators and leaders of medical community who are willing to assist in the clinical evaluation of AstraZeneca products in line with TA objectives
-- Represent AstraZeneca at national meetings and national organizations related to area of expertise
-- Play an integral role in planning national and regional symposia and other expert panels
-- Play an integral role in the planning of national and regional advisory boards
-- Interact with leaders of groups identified as strategic customers
-- Participation in and planning educational (CME) symposia
-- Provide medical review in concert with team members for investigator-initiated proposals
-- Provide medical input & review for various programs in Medical Affairs
-- Provide scientific/medical expertise to Therapeutic Area (TA) leadership and TA product teams as it relates to Sales & Marketing.
This includes:
- Publication strategy and planning
- Medical and scientific education & training of internal customers such as members of product teams and Regional Scientific Managers
- Participate in planning with product team of innovative Phase IV studies
- Participation in relevant TA Committees and/or Product Teams regarding product strategy and to keep abreast of global programs


Responsibilities

Ths is a field based position for an Oncology Physician. Candidate can be located anywhere in the US. No relocation is required. This is a Director/Senior Director level position.

Qualifications:
-- Graduate of a recognized school of medicine with an M.D. degree and with demonstrated expertise in a field of medicine relevant to AstraZeneca?s products
-- Board certification in a medical specialty relevant to AstraZeneca?s products
-- Background in academic medicine and clinical research and familiarity with biostatistics
-- Excellent written and oral communication, interpersonal, and organization skills
-- Ability to travel nationally and internationally
-- Demonstrated success in working in teams

Preferred Background:
-- Subspecialty training as well as other scientific training such as the possession of an M.P.H. or Ph.D. degree
-- Five years experience in drug development and medical affairs
-- Recognition as an opinion leader, as demonstrated by a track record of scholarship, independent research funding, publications, and membership in national societies
-- Familiarity with DDMAC promotional regulations and pharmaceutical promotion standards
