Group Head - CNS Pharmacology

Reporting to the Sr. Director of Neuroscience Drug Discovery, the individual will plan and execute research programs to discover novel small molecule drugs or biologics for Alzheimer?s disease. In this role, the Director will provide scientific leadership to his/her staff, be responsible for their performance and their intellectual and career development. He/she will manage material resources to ensure that project objectives are met while coordinating with other members of the Department, with colleagues in other Departments and across the Division. The Director will be expected to establish and maintain an active network of expert contacts outside of the Company and to participate in scientific meetings, professional and scientific organizations.

Requirements include a Ph.D., M.D. or M.D./Ph.D. in a relevant biological field, with at least 8 years postdoctoral research experience gained in an academic and/or industrial environment(s). Must be an acknowledged authority in CNS Pharmacology, as demonstrated by an extensive publication list and invitations to address major scientific meetings. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, and the ability to work effectively in a matrix organization is essential. Requires considerable experience in project management and leadership, with demonstrated ability to bring projects to a successful conclusion.
