HEALTH PHYSICIST
RESPONSIBILITIES FOR PHARMACY RADIATION SPECIALIST - HEALTH PHYSICIST AT TYCO HEALTHCARE/MALLINCKRODT: Support implementation of appropriate procedures to assure regulatory systems are being maintained and standards are being met in regards to NRC, Agreement state, DOT, OSHA, and EPA regulations.
Maintain a sound radiation safety program incorporating regulatory requirements as well as generally accepted safe practices and principles for maintaining doses ALARA.
Assure the use of radioactive materials is performed in accordance with corporate policies and procedures and in compliance with applicable federal and state regulations.
Assist in the design and evaluation of new facilities and equipment to promote the safe use and handling of radioactive materials.
Respond to routine inquiries from nuclear pharmacy staff regarding the use of radioactive materials and day-to-day occurrences.
Develop enhanced radiation and occupational safety training programs for comprehension at all levels of the pharmacy organization and assist in providing training on radiological and EHS issues to the nuclear pharmacy employees.
Conduct incident investigations following radiological, safety or quality incidents
Evaluate effectiveness of the corrective action program and implement improvements.
Serve as point of contact for nuclear pharmacy radiological and EHS incidents.
Assist in the development and implementation of processes for reviewing new processes, procedures, and other significant management of change.
Requirements:
B.S. in Health Physics, Nuclear Medicine Technology, safety or other related field.
5 - 8 years of progressive experience in an operational Health Physics program or administering safety programs.
Experience in nuclear medicine industry with NRC/Agreement state regulations is a strong preference.
Experience in Environment, Health and Safety is highly desirable
Strong leadership skills, independent worker
Excellent written and verbal communication skills and ability to work as part of a team.
Willing to travel 50 - 75%.
