Histology/Necropsy Lead (Principal Scientist R5/R6)

Description: The successful candidate will be responsible for all aspects of leadership and management of the necropsy and histology function within La Jolla Safety Sciences. Provides strong leadership to the site's necropsy/histology colleagues and advances the scientific activities and credibility of the histology group. In collaboration with pathologists and other colleagues, establish and support new methodologies such as Laser Capture Microdisection, novel staining methodology, immunohistochemistry and other tissue based imaging needs as required. Participates on global teams, ensures quality and efficiency within the laboratory and prioritize resourcing within the group. Ensures compliance with and oversees necropsy and histology activities within the site to meet scientific and regulatory requirements as required. Ensures highest quality of necropsy descriptions and appropriate histology specimens.

Qualifications:
A BS/MS or DVM with a minimum of 3-5 years of supervising necropsy activities and a histology laboratory within the pharmaceutical industry. Strong supervisory and managerial skills, as well as ability to work in a strong collaborative environment are required. Demonstrated ability to lead moderately complex and highly regulated scientific and technical groups. Relates well to individuals with multiple social styles and backgrounds. Experience with advanced histotechnological techniques (eg. Laser Capture Microdisection, Immunohistochemistry) also prefered. In depth technical knowledge of pathology and experienced in operating within the pharmaceutical industry or a contract research organization. Demonstrated ability to lead moderately complex and highly regulated scientific and technical organization.
