Kinase Program Director

Responsibilities include managing and directing the development of enzyme assays and performance of related screening services, with particular emphasis on kinase assays using the LabChip 3000 system, but also involving other assay technologies. The primary emphasis for this position is scientific management of NovaScreen?s enzyme (kinase) screening program for clients, which will include assay design and optimization, process optimization and automation, data review and interpretation, quality control, reporting results to clients, and as needed, hands on performance in the lab. An additional emphasis is working with our sales, marketing and senior management groups to plan and help execute future directions for enzyme/kinase products and services, to communicate the enzyme assay program to clients and prospective clients, and to interact with Caliper?s automation and microfluidics design groups on enhancements to our instrument systems and processes.

? Hands-on experience developing and implementing enzymatic assays including kinases and proteases using a variety of assay technologies including radioactive and fluorescence-based methods. Experience with microfluidics a plus.

? Solid knowledge of enzymology and kinase/phosphatase/protease biology.

? 5 + Years experience in the biotech or pharma industries in an automated assay development and/or screening environment.

? PhD in Enzymology, Biochemistry, Pharmacology or related field.

? Exceptional attention to detail.

? Good interpersonal and presentation skills to interact with clients.

? Ability to support NovaScreen/Caliper business development efforts- new assay technology assessment, seminars, marketing support.

? Ability to manage a team of scientists and/or technicians, as well as work in a team environment.
