Lead Microbiologist

Lead Microbiologist Description: Our client located in Garden Grove manufactures store brand vitamins, minerals, supplements and over-the-counter drugs for America's top retailers. We currently have an excellent temp-to-hire opportunity for an experienced lead Microbiologist. Duties of this position will include: Perform various activities related to the inspection and testing of raw materials and finished products to ensure compliance with established specifications, procedures, policies, and regulatory requirements, and provides training and expertise to coworkers as required. Description of Responsibility 30% Tests and documents samples of raw materials, products in process, finished products, water, and other samples provided by various departments to help ensure quality in the manufacturing process. 20% Trains and provides expertise to coworkers as necessary. 10% Coordinates sample handling and testing with other departments as required. 15% Develops, modifies, and prepares testing protocols and reports, reviews notebooks and other documentation related to the release of product, and writes, reviews, and revises SOPs as required. 5% Prepares, maintains, and calibrates laboratory equipment and makes minor repairs as required. 5% Prepares and maintains media, plates, cultures, and other reagents. 5% Maintains vendor certification program. 5% Keeps glassware and laboratory equipment clean and organized. 5% Performs other related duties as assigned by management.

Requirements:
B.S. in Chemistry. Bachelor's degree in microbiology or related science preferred. 1-2 years' supervisory experience. Minimum five years microbiology experience required. Familiarity with spreadsheet applications such as Lotus 1-2-3 and/or Quattro Pro. Demonstrated oral and written communication skills and excellent math and organizational skills required. Proven ability to independently perform and train routine micro tests.
