Marketing Manager for Biochemicals

EMD Biosciences, Inc., a worldwide supplier of life science reagents to the biotech research community, is currently seeking a Marketing Manager who will work with Product Managers to develop and implement strategic and tactical marketing plans for Biochemical products working closely with the Marketing Communications team to ensure development of appropriate marketing collateral and sales training materials to support the existing products and launch new products. This position will also perform market analysis, planning and project management.

 

Essential functions of the position include:

1. Develop strategic plans including detailed analysis of market segments, business trends, potential new products and market opportunities for Biochemicals.

2. Work with Product Managers in writing and implementing product marketing plans, providing and analyzing competitive market data, product positioning strategy, as well as revenue and unit forecasting and pricing strategies.

3. Identify and develop effective promotional collateral, sales tools and marketing literature and assess their effectiveness. Coordinate the marketing communication activities and plan with the Marketing Communications group and Product Management team.

4. Support EMD field sales team and distribution organizations to promote interest, understanding and ability to effectively sell assigned products.

5. Provide assistance in new product development or product enhancements and establish business case for initiatives.

6. Provide market and customer analysis of products and technologies and create competitive write-up that clearly communicates positioning strategy.

7. Provide proactive reports on industry trends and competitive activity for Biochemicals. Make recommendations and implement any changes to the current plan as warranted.

8. Business travel to attend tradeshows, work with the sales organizations, meet with customers and develop/manage relationships with marketing partners.

 

The successful candidate will have a graduate degree in Biology, Chemistry or Biochemistry and M.B.A. degree. Minimum 3 years of industry experience and demonstrated ability to provide marketing requirements to the development team so they know what to produce along with a marketing plan/rationale to support initiatives. Demonstrated ability to construct market plans, including but not limited to: market analysis, product strategy, product planning (roadmap & market requirements), program strategy, sales readiness and channel support.
