Medical Epidemiologist

This is medical and research work developing, implementing and evaluating CDC's public health surveillance activities. Work involves utilizing medical, epidemiology and biostatistics to assist in the ongoing support of CDC's BioSense surveillance program. Work also involves providing consultant services to the local/state public health community on communicable disease or data problems. The role also potentially requires the management of other data analysts and statisticians.

Experience and Skills:
Knowledge of the current principles, practices, methods, literature and new developments in the field of community disease control
Knowledge of the principles, practices and current developments of general medicine as it applies to the diagnosis and treatment of diseases, particularly in the field of infectious diseases
Knowledge of the principles and practices of epidemiology and biostatistics
Knowledge of the current developments in health research as it relates to disease control
Ability to collect, analyze and summarize data in epidemiologic reports
Ability to speak before public groups, both professional and non professional
Ability to make complex medical information understandable to laypersons

Education or Equivalent Experience:

Masters Degree in Public Health
Medical Degree or PhD in related field
10+ years of related experience
