Medical Scientific Liaison

This is a field-based position. The ideal candidate will have at least 3 years of experience as a Medical Science Liaison with at least 1 year of nephrology specialization or MSN/NP with nephrology experience. The successful candidate will have a demonstrated capability for scientific and strategic thinking, championing clinical positioning, and an ability to present and maintain fair-balance during scientific discussions.

The candidate will have demonstrated comprehensive skills in establishing and maintaining collegial peer-to-peer relationships with a wide range of interactions with nephrologists. In addition, the position requires the ability to assess and respond to clinical information, scientific/medical concepts and intellectual property, and to present a fair balanced highly clinical, scientific and professional profile of dialysis therapies and products. The MSL will provide scientific support to the sales team to ensure coverage of key accounts.
The ideal candidate will possess the ability to expertly communicate these skills both in writing and via formal presentation.

Responsibilities:
The MSL has direct responsibility for developing collegial peer-to-peer relationships with our customers in the areas of dialysis therapy and peritoneal dialysis therapy related products. The MSL works closely with internal staff to provide scientific training on relevant products, programs and issues. The MSL will identify potential opportunities with researchers in the field as consultants and for future research projects.

Additional specific responsibilities include:

Establishing and maintaining peer-to-peer relationships with a wide range of external key opinion leaders in nephrology.
Providing fair-balanced scientific and technical drug and disease state information to physicians, other HCPs, and our internal personnel
Effectively managing all aspects of regional/territorial MSL plan
Representing the Medical Affairs Department and presenting dialysis/product/therapeutic information to customers
Identify potential investigational study opportunities
Developing/staffing the Baxter Medical Affairs Booth at designated regional and national medical conferences


Qualifications
Formal Education and Experience Requirements:

Advanced degree required: BSN with proven MSL experience or MSN/Nurse Practitioner with nephrology experience.
Excellent written and verbal communications skills
Computer literacy and PowerPoint skills
Experience with literature review, synthesis and analysis

Location and Travel:
These positions are field based, candidates must live within one hour of a major airport within the region and will be required to travel 50% or more.
