Job Purpose: Microbiologist is responsible for fulfilling the needs of the QC Department's requirements for analytical testing in the biological areas; examination of products; components; identification of microorganisms experience in Cytotoxicity or cell culture application. This position is responsible for performing independent tasks, demonstrate moderate problem solving skills. Also responsible for the daily laboratory organizational duties.

Essential Functions:
- Cleaning, preparing & storage of equipment, material, and lab-ware for all lab test methods.
- Perform all activities required for the execution of lab test methods.
- Perform sterility testing, both biological indicator & immersion methods in accordance with USP & ISO.
- Prepare microbiologist media, maintain & isolate cultures; stain cells & perform general microbiological procedures.
- Perform environmental monitoring to support Manufacturing in accordance with ISO & USP.
- Work in lass 100 cleanroom, laminar flow hoods, and demonstrate aseptic technique, including aseptic filling. Train others in these techniques.
- Perform bioburden, water & solution sterility testing in accordance with ISO & USP.
- Perform identification of microorganisms using classical Microbiology methods and/or the VITEX instrument in accordance with ISO & USP.
- Perform tissue culture technique as related to the cytotoxicity assay as backup for Cytotox Lab.
- Perform bacterial endotoxin assays as backup for LAL Lab.
- Validate lab test methods to support GLP & QSR requirements.
- Perform GLP & general lab functions.
- Use of computer, including custom analytical instrument programs.
- Write lab methods.
- Adhere to all safety & Lab Rules.
- Train others in comparable tasks.

QUALIFICATIONS GUIDELINES

Required:

Bachelor's degree/BS/BA in Biology or Biochem or related decipline ; 3-6 yrs related biological lab experience. (Scientific Industrial; GMP/ ISO; QC; Microbiology; Technical Writing; Computer Experience). QA/QC/GMP/ISO/FDA Training. Safety Training.
