National Director, Field Medical Affairs

 The National Director, Field Medical Affairs takes the lead in implementing the Medical Scientific Manager contributions to the Medical Affairs Business Plan that supports and augments the commercial business strategy for the CNS area. The ND, FMA leads a field-based group of Medical Scientific Managers and is responsible for prioritizing their activities to ensure alignment with business goals and objectives.  The ND serves as the functional manager for all Regional Directors and/or Medical Scientific Managers.
Functional Management Responsibilities: Leads effort to recruit and hire Regional Directors and Medical Scientific Managers; Plans and Manages CNS budget; Manages performance and development of Regional Directors and Medical Scientific Managers; Evaluates and delivers core training for Regional Directors and Medical Scientific Managers; Responsible for quality and consistency of scientific and medical knowledge interchange between external customers and Medical Scientific Managers; Leads strategy and development of processes and capabilities that optimize the delivery of services to internal and external customers; Ensures compliance with all Berlex Business Policies and Guidelines in accordance with OIG; Develops employees for current and future positions within Berlex; Provides coaching and feedback on job performance to the team.
Brand/Business Unit Responsibilities: Member of CNS Core Customer Team; Accountable for effective/optimal integration of Medical Scientific Managers across critical functional areas (Medical, Marketing, Sales, NHA, etc.); Prioritizes work and resources across the Medical Scientific Manager team; Ensures knowledge transfer and learning’s are captured across Medical Scientific Manager teams (best practices);
Proactively coordinates field need for medical/scientific knowledge required for scientific support of Berlex products (in-line products & products in development); Ensures appropriate Medical Scientific Manager staffing of CNS initiatives (i.e. Consultants Meetings, Advisory Board meetings); Works with NSD to ensure optimal alignment of field resources in the delivery of Brand and Business Unit objectives; Supports Business Planning process while also being cognizant of cross-business unit opportunities; Prioritizes Medical Scientific Manager resources across brands within CNS; Ensures development and execution of scientific brand Operational plans; Serves as an active member of the Sales Management Team and attends the Senior Managers Meetings.

Advanced degree in science-related field, or other appropriate knowledge/experience (PharmD, PhD, MD); 6-10 years experience in the pharmaceutical industry that may include some combination in sales, marketing, medical affairs or clinical development; At least 6years management experience in sales, marketing, medical affairs or clinical development; 5 years field force leadership/management experience is a must; 3 years managing programs in a team environment; Strong knowledge of clinical development/operations; Ability to manage a diverse group of responsibilities; Working knowledge of FDA requirements, OIG guidelines, etc.; Ability to work effectively in a cross-functional matrix team environment; Proven Leadership abilities; Expert technical depth in disease area; Strategic influencing skills; Highly developed written and verbal communication skills; Well-developed initiative ability; Excellent project management skills; Strong organization and time management skills; Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
Preferred
PharmD, PhD, MD along with an MBA; CNS experience; Minimum 5 years experience in a strategy-setting role within Medical Affairs; Global experience within the pharmaceutical industry; Excellent computer skills (Excel, Word, Power Point, etc.); Knowledge of information/technology systems.
