Kelly Scientific Resources is assisting a major Research Institute in Central CT in finding a qualified Research Scientist with expertise in Pharmacokinetics.

The purpose of this position is to conduct experimentation and provide information on the in vitro and in vivo metabolism, pharmacokinetic and ADME characterization of investigative agents designed to aid in the selection of lead synthetic templates and final IND candidate compounds in a discovery environment. The position will have a strong and primary emphasis on the conduct of rat liver microsome metabolic studies. These studies will include microsomal stability, CYP isozyme characterization, as well as CYP inhibition and induction studies. Experience, knowledge and ability to harvest high-quality microsomes are also absolute requirements.

In support of these studies, a strong emphasis is placed on bioanalytical method development and an in-depth understanding and background in HPLC/UV and fluorescence with ability to conduct analysis of parent compound and non-radiolabeled metabolic profiles.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
-Design and conduct studies in drug metabolism and ADME
-Formulate scientific hypotheses in drug metabolism and design the relevant experimentation
-Develop and conduct robust Bioanalytical HPLC/UV (or fluorescence) methods of a complex nature as needed to support in vivo and in vitro drug metabolism, pharmacokinetic studies
-Perform a mentoring role in the areas of drug metabolism and Bioanalytical assay development

TECHNICAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
-Exceptionally skilled and posses an advanced knowledge in drug metabolism
-Capable of preparing hepatic microsomes
-Highly proficient in Bioanalytical HPLC/UV (or fluorescence) method development, sample analysis and metabolic profiling
-Able to purify metabolites from a biological matrix for identification
-Understand basic principles of pharmacokinetics and ability to use computer based pharmacokinetic software (i.e. Win-NonLin)
-Ability to keep abreast of the scientific literature and be able to conduct literature searches to optimize ongoing research
