PRINCIPAL VETERINARY PATHOLOGIST

Job Responsibilities:

Discovery Working Group representation. Develop early safety assessment, ensure
appropriate toxicology studies and liability screens are performed to support
nomination of drug candidates for further development, prepare integrated
summaries and reports, as required. Oversee necrospy of animals from toxicology
studies, provide an integrated interpretation of gross pathology, clinical
pathology,and histopathology data, prepare reports. Create novel experimental
designs for mechanistic toxicology studies designed to assess hypotheses for
and evaluate mechanisms of toxicity and produce practical counterscreens for
chemistry. Support predictive toxicology experimental efforts of department in
vitro cell culture based, metabonomics and transcriptomics. Provision of
leadership within Discovery Toxicology in the field of experimental pathology
and medicine.

Job Requirements/Education:

Education preferred is D.V.M., Ph.D. or equivalent with 4 years experience.
This position will require broad based knowledge of pathophysiologic
mechanisms, and a strong understanding of toxicology and pharmacology. At least
4 years experience in pharmaceutical discovery and development is preferred but
equivalent experience is accepted. Postdoctoral experience is preferred. The
candidate should possess strong molecular pathology skill sets and publication
record. An area of expertise in the fields of CNS related disease, virology,
endocrinology, inflammation, immunology, or cardiovascular disease if
preferred. A demonstrated skill set in in vivo modeling and or demonstrated
experience with transgenic or knockout mice is preferred. The candidate should
possess expertise in immunohistochemical evaluation of diseased tissue. Strong
leadership and communication skills are essential for this position.

Salary will be commensurate with experience.
