Pharmacoeconomic Scientist / Outcomes Scientist
OBJECTIVE:
To provide pharmacoeconomic support (various economic analyses such as cost analysis, cost-effectiveness analysis, cost-utility analysis, etc. in addition to statistical analysis design and planning, data analysis, analysis modeling and programming, tables, listings, and PE report) to the Outcome Research group within Medical & Scientific Affairs as well as to fulfill the needs of Marketing to create PE models etc. Contribute to Value Demonstration Plans to support overall product team objectives. Implement and manage tactical outcomes research projects conceived through the Strategic Outcomes Research Team. Contribute to technical papers, under direction of Director of Medical Research, Senior Manager of Medical Outcomes Research, and cross-functional strategy teams (e.g. medical, statistics, program management).
ACCOUNTABILITIES: Contribute to Value Demonstration Plan for assigned marketed brands.Plan prospective outcomes studies to support brand marketing in conjunction with strategies developed through the Strategic Outcomes Research Team.Plan retrospective data analyses that would indicate the area to add value and provide cues for designing the prospective studies.Provide analysis plans and technical reports with tables and figures.Plan and implement protocols and data analysis plans utilizing clinical and/or claims databases in-licensed by TPNA.Perform analysis and provide results on large or small databases with equal ease and use essential and innovative skills appropriate to the situation.Analyze epidemiological database to evaluate prevalence of diseases and burden of disease.Managed development of pharmacoeconomic models for presentation to formulary approval committees of health care plans using databases in-licensed by TPNA.Perform ad-hoc economic analyses to meet TPNA’s requirements.Provide economic perspective to include humanistic outcomes in the economic cost-effectiveness and cost-utility analyses.Prepare manuscripts for publication.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:
Required:Pharm D, Ph.D., or MS with 2-4 years experience in performing economic data analysis, econometric modeling, and medical outcomes research.
Desired:Graduate degree, outcomes research fellowship, and 4-5 years experience in industry performing economic data analysis, writing manuscripts, and an effective team performer
Skills:Economic and statistical modeling, design of outcomes research studies (cost effectiveness and cost utility), technical writing, independent and innovative thinking, sound communication, and handling of multiple projects.Functional in epidemiological data analysis such as propensity matching and stratifications, etc.Knowledge of a repertoire of instruments for quality of life evaluations and patient-reported outcomes assessments for various therapeutic areas and disease conditions. Knowledge of sources of data, data integrity, cost data for medication therapies, devices, services, etc.Analysis methodology, current trends in designs and methods of outcomes research studies (cost effectiveness and cost utility), studies on patient reported outcomes such as quality of life, patient satisfaction, etc. Interdisciplinary expertise should include knowledge of therapeutic areas and/or quick grasp of nuances of therapies in relevant areas of therapeutic interest as well as methods of econometric modeling of disease and therapy data and psychometric analyses.Knowledge of standards guiding the conduct of operations of a pharmaceutical company as contained in 21CFR and their interpretation by the United States Food and Drug Administration and the United States Department of Health and Human Services.Able to lead project teams through successful completion of research projects.
