Responsibilities:

In this role, the candidate will work with the other departments to evaluate how products can be brought into a facility and run concurrently in a highly flexible manufacturing environment. The products range from initial clinical trial runs to commercial products. He/she will also participate in the development and implementation of formal ?Planning? functions over the next 18 months. Planning roles include the management of BOM data accuracy, routing data accuracy, MRP functions and more. This role will provide the opportunity to establish a Planning organization in a business unit where the function currently does not exist. The candidate will direct, plan, organize and control planning of operations. He/she will be primarily responsible for ensuring that the required levels of safety, quality and productivity are met. He/she will support Manufacturing Operations by working effectively within the management team to execute goals, objectives and tasks to achieve the desired results. The candidate will provide leadership and technical oversight to staff members and junior personnel. He/she will be directly responsible for developing a staff by utilizing performance reviews and development plans. The candidate will develop and/or improve staff capabilities in response to Biochemical Department needs and expectations. He/she will align ongoing Class A initiatives and support the ERP and MES implementation over the next 18 months. The incumbent will provide cross-functional coordination and issue resolution across Manufacturing Operations, other groups and/or projects. He/she will work globally with groups outside the business unit to enhance performance, planning and scheduling for Genentech. He/she will manage the development and implementation of solutions to increase efficiency and effectiveness of the BPS Logistics group towards meeting department goals in the business unit. The candidate will develop traditional Planning roles to support an ERP implementation, including but not limited to MPS, MRP and CRP.

 

Requirements:

A B.S./B.A. in Life Sciences, Physical Sciences, Engineering or equivalent field is required. The candidate must have a minimum of 3-5 years of relevant bio/pharmaceutical experience, including functional group management. The ability to communicate and collaborate skills within cross-functional teams is essential. Leadership experience in a changing environment is a must. The ability to build effective informal and formal teams to develop robust solutions is required. The candidate must be flexible and adaptable to function in a tactical environment while maintaining focus on strategic organization goals. The candidate must possess strong analytical and database management skills. Experience with ERP systems such as BPCS or SAP and data management modules is essential. MRP experience is required for this position. The ability to provide creative solutions in a dynamic environment while developing standardized processes to meet the Class A, ERP and MES needs of the future is essential. APICS, CIRM or CPIM, certification is desired. Experience in a GMP biopharmaceutical production facility and with SAP is preferred. Experience with MES (Manufacturing Execution System) and/or DCS (Distributive Control Systems) is desired. Knowledge and application of production efficiency methodologies (5S, Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, DAMIC and/or Theory of Constraints) is preferred. Experience with supply chain system integration solutions is desired.
