Principal Mechanical Engineer

Position Objectives: 

Responsible for all aspects of mechanical engineering at MediSpectra. A direct contributor in mechanical

engineering and system design effort.  Lead the mechanical aspects of a major cost reduction effort for an FDA approved cervical cancer detection device.

 

Job Responsibilities: As principal technical resource, directly create, analyze, and implement mechanical designs.Design assemblies and subassemblies for MediSpectra instruments. Assist research group with any custom designed mechanical fixtures or tools.Develop and execute module and system level verification and validation test plans. Facilitate Design and Peer Reviews, evaluating the worthiness of mechanical designs. Ensure that mechanical engineering tools (CAD software/hardware, machine tools, and measurement tools) are maintained, adequate and appropriate for the job.Within the mechanical group, responsible for resource planning, performance evaluation, hiring, approving requisitions, scheduling, creating standards, and procedures.

 

Qualifications:

Required: Minimum BSME, MSME preferred.10+yr mechanical design/development experience.Proven record of bringing products from concept to small-scale manufacture.Experience with SolidWorks a must.Design experience in the medical device industry.Familiarity with FDA Quality System Regulations as they relate to design and development.

 

Preferred: Experience with mounting optics, and fiber optic coupling.Experience with galvo driven mechanical interfaces.
