POSITION DESCRIPTION

 

Title:     Principal Research Associate

General Responsibilities:

 

The general responsibilities of this position will be to characterize protein targets using standard biochemical and enzymatic methods, to perform selections with various targets against large DNA-tagged small molecule libraries with the goal of identifying novel binders (DirectSelectTM), and to characterize the activity of the resynthesized small molecules against the target. 

 

Specific Responsibilities:

 Basic protein characterization involving SDS-PAGE, affinity capture, and established enzyme assays.Optimize and perform selection protocols against various protein targets.Quantitate selection outputs using qPCR.Deliver output to sequencing group.Analyze results from sequencing group using Spotfire.Communicate results to chemistry team as well as to the entire DirectSelect team.Perform assays on various targets to evaluate compounds delivered from chemistry team.

 

Qualifications:BS plus 8 years of laboratory experience or MA plus 4 years of laboratory experienceBiotech/pharmaceutical company experience is a strong plusExperience with small molecule evaluation using medium to high throughput assays based on enzyme activity or protein-protein interactions.Experience with protein affinity capture techniques and purification also a plus.Experience with selection based technologies such as phage-display or aptamer base
