Job Description

REQUIREMENTS:

* The Development Chemist is responsible for generating knowledge and information useful in the development of commercial processes for Boehringer Ingelheim products. These products aide the pilot plant and production in commercialization maintaining compliance with the appropriate regulations.

A BS/MS in Organic or Physical Chemistry with extensive knowledge of all elements of commercial process development is required. A minimum of 3 years of industry experience in safety investigations, crystallization and process development. Experience with particle size distribution, polymorphism and organic synthesis. The qualified candidate will have demonstrated teamwork, persistence/energy, planning and organizing, analytical thinking, quality orientation and visionary leadership. The qualified candidate will have experience with structure drawing software, laboratory equipment and lab techniques. Knowledgeable in the safe use of chemicals and MSDS.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

* Primary responsibilities include physico-chemical investigations, safety investigations, crystal design, particle size distribution and polymorphism.
* In addition, provide technical direction for issues associated with process development.
* Prepare lab samples, reference standards, and impurity standards.
* Participate in establishing cleaning methods.
* Conform to ISO, FDA, DEA, OSHA, and other similar standards.
* Participate and support Pre-approval Inspection (PAI) as needed.
* Help compile Drug Master File (DMF) as needed.
* Provide leadership and direction in process development and scale-up operations.
* Follow all cGMP and regulatory requirements.
* Make oral presentations of project-related activities to management.
