A medium-sized biotechnology company in the Bay Area has an immediate need for a Process Development Engineer. 

 

Process Development Engineer, Recovery

 

 

The Process Science Group is looking for a dynamic process engineer in downstream processing.  This individual will be part of a team responsible for the hands-on development of biological production processes from bench and large-scale stages.  The successful candidate will be a champion of process development; from discovery, through scale up, pilot plant, and technology transfer to the manufacturing plants.  This individual will be an active participant in cross-functional R&D project teams, Global Supply initiatives, process engineering teams, and operational improvement teams.

 

Specific duties include:

? Develop recovery and purification processes for biomolecules, including membrane separations, filtrations, centrifugation and chromatography.

? Active participant in the development of scale-up/scale-down methodology for downstream processes, including design, planning, execution and analysis of process experiments

? Collaborate with process technicians, upstream fermentation engineers and the entire engineering team in Process Science, as well as members of our Research and Global Supply organizations

? Prepare technical reports, data summaries, protocols and other technical and regulatory documentations

? Mentor junior engineers in the Process Science group on downstream process development

 

Requirements:

? MS in Biochemical or Chemical Engineering

? The candidate must have demonstrated exceptional capabilities in their educational pursuits and associated work/study programs

? Strong written and verbal communication skills

? 3+ years bio-processing industrial experience with hands on emphasis

? Strong team player and mentor

? Self starter with good organizational skills and leadership potential

? Some travel required
