Today, Genentech manufactures and commercializes multiple biotechnology products that have helped patients suffering from serious diseases and conditions, including breast cancer, colon cancer, lung cancer, non-Hodgkin's lymphoma, cystic fibrosis, heart attack, stroke, growth hormone deficiency, psoriasis and asthma. Responsibilities:
Reporting to the Director of Biochemical Process Engineering, the Process Engineer will provide representation and leadership for the Process Engineering discipline in the delivery of large capital projects for manufacturing-related facilities at Genentech. This is a very significant position associated with the ultimate delivery of products and pipeline processes for Genentech?s robust product portfolio. As such, the Process Engineer is accountable for process and equipment design, engineering document development, review and approval through the project phases of planning, design, procurement, construction, commissioning and equipment/system qualification for GMP and development facilities, systems and equipment associated with bulk biochemical operations (e.g. fermentation, harvest, chromatography, ultra filtration, CIP/SIP). He/she will coordinate and direct both Genentech, as well as contract resources. Field supervision, equipment inspection and start-up, trade coordination and training are also required. Success in these areas will depend upon the individual?s ability to effectively lead, collaborate and communicate with team members and manage project scope, budget and schedule as it relates to the process engineering discipline. The candidate will be responsible for increasing the efficiency and effectiveness of the Corporate Automation and Process Engineering department by significantly contributing to departmental infrastructure (guidelines, procedures, practices, standards) either through individual contribution, or leadership of a team (departmental or cross-functional). The Process Engineer will provide technical leadership and mentoring for other department members. This includes sharing insights and improvements with department members, as well as participating in design reviews.

Requirements:
A B.S./M.S. in Chemical Engineering with a minimum of five years of bio/pharmaceutical process design and capital project management experience with proven knowledge of cGMP compliance is required.
