Production Shift Supervisor Chemical operations/ Pharmaceutical

This API/Pharmaceutical manufacturing facility in Boulder, Colorado is used for the development and commercial manufacturing of active pharmaceutical ingredient (API) for internal and external purposes. The plant is suited to small  to medium scale manufacturing and is expert in a diverse range of technologies in the development and production of APIs. It has world class extraction, purification, and semi-synthetic chemistry expertise. This location currently has 85+ employees and works a 24/7 Manufacturing operation.

 

We are currently seeking a Night Shift (6 pm to 6 am) Chemical/ Pharmaceutical manufacturing supervisor for the Boulder Operation. Individuals with previous chemical or pharmaceutical Manufacturing supervisory experience highly desired. This opening is for second shift (6 pm to 6 am). The schedule is a 3-2-2-3 schedule (3on-2off-2on-3off). 12 hour shifts.

 

Job Summary


Responsible for supervising a shift of 6- 10 individuals who are performing a variety of medium-scale pharmaceutical manufacturing tasks and activities related to advancing the product through various processes to achieve prescribed level of purity, quality and consistency in a GMP environment. Previous experience in a GMP environment working closely with batch records and SOP's desireable. Good mechanical/ scientific knowledge a plus.
Plan and manage day to day activities to achieve production targets, performance goals. Ensure compliance to procedures, batch records,instructions and policies Maintain high, consistent standards of performance for technicians. Ensure safe operations Coach employees in personal development

 

Requirements/Education

High school diploma or GED required. College course work in chemistry or biochemistry highly desirable. Strong math and reading proficiency.



Requirements/ Work Experience

Minimum 3 years direct manufacturing supervisory experience in a chemical process or pharmaceutical process environment or related industry. 

 

 Strong communication and relationship building skills required. Must have proven track record in supervision including motivating, directing and managing a group larger than 3 employees. Mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills. Ability to read sufficient to read and understand SOPs; Ability to write documentation and events clearly and concisely. Interpersonal skills sufficient to communicate effectively with employees, co-workers and supervisors and to act in concert with others to achieve tasks. Basic math skills sufficient to do mathematical calculations (i.e. weigh materials, calculate percentages). Previous experience working either a night shift and/or 12 hour shifts helpful Must be able to multi-task, run various operations at the same time and hold employees accountable for performance.



Physical Requirements



Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs; climb ladders; stand for extended periods of time; work with hazardous materials. Employees in this job are monitored by a medical surveillance program requiring annual physical exams and pre-employment drug test. Offers contingent upon the completion and passing of required pre-employment physical and background check.
