SUMMARY

Tests and inspects clinical testing kits at various stages of the production process.  Also tests and inspects various instruments and their accessories marketed by Stanbio Laboratory.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.

Other duties may be assigned.

 Tests products at specified stages in the production process for a variety of qualities such as performance and chemical characteristics.Performs the incoming inspection and release of the Sirrus? chemistry analyzer as well as other instruments marketed by Stanbio Laboratory.Provides off-hours support to the Sirrus? chemistry analyzer when scheduled.Reviews and inspects manufacturing, packaging and QC lab documents for accuracy and completeness.Participative in proficiency sample testing.Participative in the testing necessary to assign values to controls and calibrators.Maintains retain areas including room temperature storage room and walk-in refrigerator.Uses the following equipment to complete tests:  pH meters, centrifuge, spectrophotometer, incubators, and automated analyzers to include Cobas Mira, Express 550, Sirrus?, etc.Calibrates testing equipment.Takes information from end-users and distributors regarding product and instrument inquiries/complaints in the absence of the Technical Support Coordinator.  Is able to answer basic questions regarding our products and instruments.Completes minor repair and maintenance on testing equipment.Performs duties in manner to ensure regulatory compliance.Maintains a clean and safe work environmentMaintains control ranges and logs of quality control batches.Inspects and releases chemical and packaging components.Provides training to lesser-experienced Stanbio technicians.May be occasionally required to travel to provide training to end users of our products and instruments or obtain personal professional training via seminars and technical courses.

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Bachelor's degree (B. S.) or Associates Degree (A.S.) in a science related field; or one to two years related experience and/or training or a combination of education and experience and/or training.  A Medical Laboratory Technician Certification or Medical Technologist Certification is required.

 

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.  Ability to read and understand reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.  Ability to effectively write and present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

 

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to apply advanced mathematical concepts such as exponents, logarithms, quadratic equations, and permutations.  Ability to apply mathematical operations to such tasks as frequency distribution, determination of test reliability and validity, analysis of variance, correlation techniques, sampling theory, and factor analysis.

 

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
