Quality Manager II

This position has ultimate responsibility for Quality Management for the Filling/Finishing/Packaging Unit within the Los Angeles manufacturing plant. The incumbent will team with the Manufacturing Business Unit Leader to ensure the implementation and ongoing maintenance of prevention-based quality systems including exceptions management, CAPA, process validation and process monitoring, etc. The incumbent will team with the Manufacturing Business Unit Leader to drive improvements in safety and financial performance, employee development, customer satisfaction, and continuous improvement initiatives consistent with the plant strategic plan.


1) Manages the activities of several sections or departments in the Quality organization with responsibility for results in terms of product quality.


2) Implements the quality systems procedures in several sections or departments and manages compliance.


3) Understands and assures conformance to regulations applicable to several sections or departments. Interfaces with regulators during inspections.


4) May participate in or manage quality assessments of internal operations and suppliers to analyze compliance and assess risk.


5) Interacts frequently with internal subordinate supervisors, functional peer and senior group managers


6) Manages interactions with regulators and customers to represent the company products and processes.


7) Identifies and manages continuous improvement projects with the objective of achieving quality, reliability and cost improvements.


8) Develops budget for several sections or departments and ensures adherence to the budget.

Qualifications
Knowledge of aseptic processing required

1) Requires excellent analytical skills with systematic approaches to problem solving through knowledge of statistical process control and advanced written and oral presentation skills. Must be able to break down complex problems and tasks into activities capable of being performed by personnel with little technical training. Also must be able to identify subtle discrepancies in processes or products and have good judgment in determining impact and potential risk.


2) Ability to manage individuals ranging from in-process quality inspectors to high-level scientists and quality engineers.


3) Thorough knowledge of applicable procedures, specifications, regulations and standards.


4) Ability to manage/supervise a large team of employees.


5) Strong communication and leadership skills.


6) Strong interpersonal/communication/influencing/negotiation skills.


7) Strong project management skills.


8) BS in a science or engineering is required and an advanced degree is desired.


9) Seven years of industry experience and five years of management experience is required.
