Research Assistant II - Assay Development

BD Diagnostics - GeneOhm, a business unit of BD, is a leader in the development and manufacture of molecular diagnostic test kits.  We are seeking a Research Assistant II to support the R&D team in developing molecular diagnostic assays.

 

There is no relocation assistance available for this position.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
? Independently perform experiments; analyze, document and present results .
? Maintain supplies, clean room, and general lab environment.
? Experimental activities may include:
- PCR and real-time PCR
- DNA hybridization assays
- Nucleic acid isolation and purification from clinical samples
- Bacterial and fungal cultures, basic microbiology techniques
- DNA cloning


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
? Demonstrated theoretical knowledge and experience in general molecular biology techniques, especially sample prep, PCR, and DNA hybridization assays.
? Excellent learning abilities
? Flexibility, excellent communication, and organizational skills
? Basics of statistical data analysis

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
? BS or MS in Molecular Biology, with a minimum of three years of experience, preferably in an industrial setting.
