Research Associate I

Meridian Bioscience is a fully integrated life sciences company that manufactures, markets and distributes a broad range of innovative diagnostic test kits, purified reagents and related products and offers biopharmaceutical enabling technologies. Utilizing a variety of methods, these products provide accuracy, simplicity and speed in the early diagnosis and treatment of common medical conditions, such as gastrointestinal, viral, urinary and respiratory infections.

 

Our RESEARCH ASSOCIATES design, develop and execute research and development experiments in collaboration with the Scientist assigned to the project. Provides technical support on research projects with moderate supervision. At the completion of a project, participate in the transfer of the new product technology to production and QA personnel.

 

Duties:

1. Perform day to day experimental activities, maintain detailed up-to-date laboratory notebook, utilize safe laboratory protocols, and maintain lab in clean condition.
2. Perform standard and novel experimental protocols required for product development.
3. Keep current on applicable scientific literature.
4. Interact with staff from all departments.
5. Interact on technical matters with research staff at collaborating institutions.
6. Participates in and adheres to the Quality Program as defined by the QSr especially as it pertains to Design Control.
7. Any other duties deemed necessary by management.


 

Qualifications Required:

 

Education and Experience:

B.A. or B.S. in Biology, Microbiology, Biochemistry or equivalent Minimum of one year pertinent research and development experience

 

Skills and Abilities:

1. Basic knowledge in the areas of microbiology, immunology, and biochemistry as related to infectious diseases.
2. Knowledge of technical skills includes: Antigen/antibody purification, chemical modification of antigens/antibodies, animal immunization, production and purification of monoclonal antibodies, spectroscopic and microscopic methodologies, and bacterial and cell culture.
3. Good oral and written communication skills.
