JOB PURPOSE:

Support microRNA (miRNA) research in an ongoing effort to develop tools and systems for studying miRNA function: isolate RNA from tissues and tissue culture cells, perform microarray experiments, support microRNA-related product development, organize and maintain inventory for the research effort.

MAIN TASKS/RESPONSIBILITIES:Plans and performs quality and detailed laboratory experiments.Prepares and analyzes samples for laboratory proceduresCompiles and maintains data on results of analysis and communicates results to supervisorPrepares reagents and chemical solutionsMaintains laboratory equipment and suppliesMaintains laboratory notebook and/or computer files and data bases  Participates and contributes at group and project meetings as required  Attends seminars as requiredSummarizes and interprets analytical dataDesigns, with supervisor, experimental protocols/proceduresPerforms highly specialized procedures as appropriate to individual laboratory situationsMay provide some guidance to Research  Associate I or Lab AssistantsWillingness to learn and implement new techniques and procedures

QUALIFICATIONS DESIRED/REQUIRED:

Bachelors or Masters Degree in Life Sciences or a related field.
