Research Engineer, Surgical - Contract - D12

This opportunity is located in Irvine, California.
The Research Engineer, Surgical will be responsible for development & design of experiments, test models, prototypes, test fixtures, and tests for new and leading edge products in our medical device research area of our R&D department. This engineer will be conducting extensive laboratory testing to support research efforts, working closely with R&D Engineering, Alcon's Marketing Department, leading ophthalmic surgeons as well as hospital and medical clinics world-wide. The Engineer will act as liaison between research activities and advocate surgeons, Marketing and R&D. Will participate in wet lab presentations with visiting VIP's.
This is a contract opportunity with long-term potential.
Minimum Qualifications:
- 8 yrs hands-on experience with medical device development.
- Experience writing and conducting test/validation protocols.
- LabView programming knowledge.
- Strong knowledge of ?microfluidics?.
- Advanced data analysis, technical writing and information presentation skills
- Laboratory experience: design of experiments, test fixture design, planning, and execution.
- Advanced computer skills using Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook and Visio.
- Self-motivated and takes pride in his/her attention to details.
- Confident and skillful in both written and verbal communications.
- Able to learn fast and be resourceful.
- Flexible in an environment of changing priorities.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Familiarity with medical device regulations and standards.
- Clinical background with understanding of clinical statistics.
Education
- Bio-Mechanical or Mechanical Engineering degree preferred.
