Sales Account Manager

LABAROTORY ANIMALS, SERVICES

 

Our client, a major provider of laboratory research animals and testing services is seeking an Account Manager based in the BOSTON area to service New England.

 

They are seeking a RELATIONSHIP/CONSULTATAIVE Sales person with ability to

partner with Customers to build relationships.

MAJOR ACCTS: Academic Institutions and Biotech Companies such as Harvard, Dana Farber, MIT.

 

SUMMARY

Manages Area client relations with a focus on selling product and services, gathering market information about current and future customer needs, and providing updated technical information to customers.  Assures customer satisfaction with products and services.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

 

Informs clients within their Area about products and services and determines what the client's needs are for existing  products and services or products and services that would be consistent with corporate mission statement and capabilities.

 

Monitors deliveries of  products and services and contacts customers to verify customer satisfaction.

 

Communicates customer concerns and future needs to their manager and other appropriate personnel so action can be taken to maximize customer satisfaction and corporate profitability.  Resolves customer problems with appropriate internal personnel. 

 

Analyzes weekly sales data and submits weekly report to manager, marketing director and clients.  Reviews monthly sales data and identifies sales trends by product line to regional manager.

 

Performs an annual summary of area customer activity, including volume, future growth, competition, and areas of development

 

Manages direct expenses within corporate guidelines and accurately submits these expenses to their manager for approval.

 

Is responsible for hosting of clients when they visit corporate facilities.

 

Visits customer facilities on a regular basis to provide them with updates of products and services.  Answers questions and supplies information to customers regarding delivery dates, costs and other pertinent information. Approximately 60% of time is spent out of the office visiting customers.

 

Prepares customer quotations for review and approval by Regional Sales Manager.

 

Attends various scientific meetings as exhibitor or presenter to increase corporate visibility.

 

May function as company representative to related professional or technical organizations.

 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

This job has no direct supervisory responsibilities.  However, this job will work closely with other departments to monitor work and schedules to assure customer satisfaction with products and services.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

Laboratory Research Experience a plus.

Scientific sales experience required.

 

EDUCATION

Possession of a bachelor's degree or higher, preferably in Biological Sciences from four-year college or university.

 

EXPERIENCE

This position needs five to seven years of experience.  Experience must include direct customer sales experience  including at least 2 years experience in sales and at least 2 years experience biomedical research.

 

COMMUNICATION SKILLS

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.  Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.  Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers and the general public.

 

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
