This person designs, develops, and delivers sales training to the United States sales force to improve sales effectiveness and support the achievement of the annual US sales plan. He/she will evaluate new sales rep development and act as a training mentor during the rep's first year. This person will work closely with sales management and marketing to identify competency gaps and develop sales training curriculum and materials. Training delivered will focus on integrating product knowledge, sales skills, and territory management. This person will occasionally work in the field to train new sales reps and evaluate the effectiveness of training programs. This person may also provide remedial/refresher training for more seasoned sales reps.
Design, develop, deliver and evaluate new sales rep training programs including orientation, basic sales skills, basic product knowledge and territory administration (computer and phone set up, SalesForce.com orientation, TAMS usage, expense reports, vehicle administration, etc.).
Partners with Sales Product Managers in the design and delivery of semi-annual product training classes for the domestic sales force in order to help integrate technical product training into effective application in selling situations.

Track progress of required curriculum and mandatory activities of sales reps to ensure successful completion of programs.
Evaluate training program effectiveness by developing training standards and measurement tools.
Evaluate and manage third party sales training vendors.
Organizes and coordinates all training for the World Wide Sales Meeting.
Compiles and maintains a library of curriculum and materials for all training classes.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
Sales skills ' must have a proven successful track record in sales (preferably in medical diagnostics)
Teaching skills ' must have the ability to effectively transfer technical knowledge of products into successful selling techniques
Communication skills ' must be able to demonstrate the ability to compile training materials and deliver presentations in front of groups
Knowledge of adult learning techniques and the ability to assess training programs and learning systems based on performance needs and business requirements
Ability to work collaboratively across functions and mentor new sales representatives
Education:
BA/BS degree in a life science, or related, discipline; MBA, MA or MS preferred
Coursework in Training and Development, Organizational Development, and Adult Learning is a plus
Experience:
Three plus years of sales and/or sales management experience in the biotech industry
Three or more years training experience in an adult learning environment is a plus
