Science Librarian/Web Designer

Science Librarian Position Summary: This position is responsible for designing, creating, managing and maintaining relevant and compelling web sites and related information for the Shaklee Medical Affairs and Health Sciences departments. The position also manages the Science library including maintaining the physical library, managing subscriptions, and creating organized and searchable document dossiers, to support Health Sciences and R&D staff. The position also provides literature search and document retrieval services for technical, marketing, and business stakeholders as required.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
Provide literature research support for Health Sciences, R&D and Marketing teams, including but not limited to: updates on new scientific research studies, trends, and ingredients, scientific conferences, patent reviews, competitive intelligence, and business development support including company profiles, and industry metrics.
Provide data to support the Health Sciences team as they provide initial evaluations of new product concepts and trends in the nutritional, botanical, and pharmaceutical product categories.
Help manage Shaklee Medical Affairs & Health Sciences web site including selecting and editing all materials prior to posting and coordinating all 3rd party content providers and material.
Work with the web group to ensure we are fully leveraging web technology to promote and maintain freshness and new information on both the Medical Affairs and Health Sciences web sites.
Manage the science library to support Health Sciences and R&D staff: Manage and coordinate on-line and hard copy journal subscriptions, organize all scientific books and scientific research papers including claims substantiation dossiers - and facilitate online document retrieval.
Create and maintain organized, online searchable document dossier archives for product claims substantiation support for new and existing products. Recommend and select scientific documentation to support Health Sciences.
Identify relevant databases and information sources to support department and corporate objectives.
Maintain organization of the physical library and provide additional library support to other corporate stakeholders.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
BA or BS degree plus 5 years experience in a health related field and/or physical/online library experience.
Broad based editorial skills for scientific content.
Excellent research database skills : InMagic, Lexis/Nexis, Dialog Information Services, Medline, etc.
