Elusys Therapeutics, Inc. is a privately-held biopharmaceutical company focused on the development of targeted anti-infective therapeutics using proprietary Heteropolymer (HP) Antibodies for the treatment of infectious disease. The Company?s most advanced product, Anthim?, a treatment for Anthrax infection, has entered Phase I human safety studies. Anthim represents a near-term revenue opportunity as it is a strong candidate for purchase by the U.S. Government under Project BioShield.

Elusys? HP antibody technology has demonstrated a unique ability to clear and destroy pathogens and provides a platform to develop a deep pipeline of novel drug candidates targeted against bacterial, viral and fungal infections. ETI-211, a pre-clinical drug for the treatment of antibiotic resistant Staphylococcus aureus (S. aureus) infections, has shown significant efficacy in animal studies and is expected to enter the clinic in 2007.

 

Job Description:

The open position is in the product development department and will report to the director of product development.  The successful candidate will be responsible for developing novel assays to be used for characterization of Heteropolymers (HPs).  The assays developed will serve as critical tools for evaluation of biochemical and biological activity of HPs.  Another objective is to develop robust in vitro potency assay formats for HPs.  A strong background in assay development and cell based assays in particular is required.  Strong flow cytometry and ELISA experience is also required.  The job duties will involve designing experiments, managing other scientists, preparing and presenting reports, and interacting with other groups to move the project forward.  Experience in the following areas is necessary: Assay development, ELISA, cell based assays, flow cytometry.  Experience in other techniques such as Biacore, HPLC, Capillary Electrophoresis is a plus.  The position requires very good communication skills and the ability to work cross functionally in a team environment.

 

Job Requirements:

The qualified candidate should have a PhD with 2-4 years experience or an MS/BS with 6-8 years experience in immunology/ biology/ biochemistry or related field.  Assay development experience is essential.  Must have very good analytical skills, communication skills and a very strong scientific background. Good computer skills are essential.  Prior supervisory experience is preferred.
