Scientist - Ion Channels

Synta has a diverse pipeline of novel, small molecule therapeutics for the treatment of chronic inflammatory disorders and cancer.  With our most advanced products in Phase 2 trials, Synta is building a world-class organization and wants you to join the team. Based in Lexington, MA, Synta currently employs 150 professionals.




Focus on the discovery, optimization, and evaluation of small molecules that modulate ion channels in non-excitable cells. Potential applications include the treatment of immune diseases, e.g., allergy and organ transplant rejection. Perform patch-clamp recordings and cell-based assays to evaluate compounds for Synta?s ion channel drug discovery effort, working closely with colleagues from other groups. Requires a Ph.D. in a related Biomedical Science with 2+ years postdoctoral training (industry preferred) and experience performing electrophysiological studies in cultured cells. Recording from tissue or whole animal preparations, and conducting high throughput cell-based assays to evaluate interactions with ion channels is a plus. Must have a solid record of scientific publications in peer-reviewed journals and excellent oral and written communication skills.
