Scientist/Senior Scientist

The Biopharmaceutical CEDD is a dedicated unit of 350 scientists operating at three sites in the UK and US which has responsibility for the development of biopharmaceutical medicines from initial design and discovery through into clinical development. Our current projects include antibodies, novel vaccines, and recombinant proteins addressing a wide range of therapeutic areas including cancer, neurology, chronic viral infections and inflammation.

 

B.S. Biological science or relevant area with 5+ years of industry experience is required

 

M.S. in Biological science and relevant knowledge and technical skills in developing and validating immunoassays (binding, functional inhibition and cell-based assays) are preferred. Knowledge and experience of GLP/GMP is a plus. The capability to work independently in a team environment is a must.

 

Working in the Biopharmaceutical, Center for Excellence in Drug Discovery, you will have extensive knowledge of immunology and bio-analytical science. You will have experience in developing, implementing and interpreting immunoassays (including ELISA, ECL and cell-based assays) according to GLP standards. You will be also responsible for keeping well written, accurate, and complete records of work in the form of electronic files, notebooks, protocols and technical reports. Participate in group discussions and present data and conclusions to group/department meetings. In order to work independently or with minimum supervision, the skill of strong trouble-shooting and problem-solving is must. Since many of our projects involve close collaboration with other parts of GSK R&D, the ability to work to tight timelines, good team work and clear written and verbal communication skills are also important.
