Constella Group, LLC. is seeking a Senior Executive of Business Development to help maintain existing client relationships and build ones to drive new business to our Clinical Research Organization (CRO). The ideal Business Development candidate will have solid experience in developing business within the CRO, pharmaceutical and/or biotech industry, and/or have an operations background, either in clinical or regulatory affairs. They will also be motivated, creative, and have an enthusiasm for developing client relationships. They will also be dedicated to a team environment that believes in growing the business, as well as growing professionally. Strong customer service background, in addition to excellent verbal and written communication skills are a must. This position will require approximately 30 - 40% travel, depending on base location. Applicants can be based from company headquarters in Durham, NC or from home offices in strategic areas across the US.
Essential Functions:
Serve as a critical team member in building and branding Constella's pharmaceutical product development business unit within the CRO, pharmaceutical, and biotech industries.
Develop and maintain new and current client relationships via phone, face to face meetings, conferences, etc.
Create and conduct client presentations individually and with clinical operations, regulatory, or other staff to attract new business and support overall corporate positioning
Liaison with sponsor and the proposals and contracts department once an request for proposal (RFP) is received to ensure information is distributed and to help facilitate the bid and award process
Represent Constella at trade shows and conferences to ensure our image and services are accurately and professionally conveyed
Develop and implement individual, as well as corporate, strategies and plans that detail opportunities and how they will achieve overall goals
Continue existing relationships with clients after project award by serving as an Account Manager
Experience and Skills:
BS/BA degree, Science or Business concentration preferred; or an equivalent combination of education and industry experience
Minimum 3 - 8 years experience working in the clinical research industry preferably via a Clinical Operations or Regulatory Affairs Background.
Business development experience preferred. (Business Development background should include complex sales for CRO, pharmaceutical, biotech, SMO, Patient Recruitment Group, Clinical Lab, etc.)
CRO experience strongly preferred
Solid knowledge of the clinical research process
Desire to be part of a team, drive to assist in building a company, and motivation to sell quality services
Proficient computer skills, including knowledge of databases and spreadsheets
