(Senior) Product Manager, Business Development

Detail of Employment Responsibilities

NimbleGen is searching for an individual with a strong scientific and commercial background and exceptional presentation and interpersonal skills to join our Business Development and Marketing group. Specifically, the successful candidate will fill the role of (Senior) Product Manager for Business Development, and be responsible for the management, strategic marketing, and support of the NimbleGen Comparative Genome Sequencing product line. In addition, the individual will contribute to promotion and support of the entire NGS product portfolio. The position will report to the Vice President of Business Development, and be based at the NimbleGen headquarters in Madison, Wisconsin.

Job Responsibilities:
? Business Development and Marketing Responsibilities
o Analyze the product line market opportunities and competitive positioning
o Develop and implement plan for product enhancements that include improvements to the existing CGS product specifications and marketing in order to secure a leading market position
o Develop and implement plan for a major new product initiative that will enable sequencing of all human exons
o For each new product or product enhancement, develop relationships with top labs worldwide as advisors, collaborators, and beta-test sites
o Manage beta-tests to successful conclusion in scientific publications
o Work with marketing communications and other individuals in the product development team on launch of product enhancements and promotion plan
o Define key messages and compelling reasons to buy
o Lead sales training of product line
o Assist with promotion of product line, including tradeshows and presentations at scientific conferences
o Assist with customer support
o Achieve revenue target for product line
o Oversee R&D product line improvement projects related to these and other products
o Assist with special projects as requested by management

? Scientific Sales Support of NimbleGen Product Portfolio
o Give formal and informal scientific presentations to prospective customers and at national and international scientific conferences
o Aid in training sales force in new and existing applications
o Respond to technical questions from the sales force and customers
o Assist sales team in achieving overall corporate revenue targets

Job Requirements:
? PhD in life-sciences and/or MBA desirable
? 3-5 years experience with product development and marketing of new products in life-sciences
? Broad familiarity with molecular biology and genomics laboratory techniques
? First hand experience with sequencing or genotyping technologies required
? Knowledge of new parallel sequencing technologies preferred
? Project management experience required
? Excellent interpersonal skills; good oral and written communication skills
? Demonstrated leadership/management potential
? Excellent time-management skills
? Ability to travel 25- 50% time
