Senior Research Technician

SAIC-Frederick, Inc, the operations and technical support contractor for the National Cancer Institute at Frederick, has a exciting opportunity in our Image Analysis Lab to assist in the daily operations of a multi-user Confocal Microscopy Laboratory. This includes participation in the development of quantitative image analysis software (50%), and in system administration, as well as day-to-day operations of confocal microscopes and image analysis programs (50%). Responsibilities will also include close interaction with collaborating scientists and their staff, training of users, facility maintenance, scheduling and recordkeeping. Software development may include programming graphical user interfaces and algorithms for image segmentation, quantitative measurements and mathematical modeling. Duties will include keeping abreast of latest microscope technologies, and participation in oral presentations and preparation of publications.   Bachelor degree from an accredited college/university in a field related to biomedical research or 4 years related experience in lieu of degree required. In addition to the educational requirement, two years of relevant experience in the areas of computer programming and/or image analysis. 

Prefer knowledge of optical microscopy and BS degree in a field related to Physical or Computational Science.
