Vivarium Operations Supervisor or Manager

A biopharmaceutical research company located in central NJ is seeking a Supervisor or Manager (level dependent upon experience and certifications as noted below) to directly supervise the research technician & vivarium/animal husbandry staff and manage the operations of the vivarium facility including ordering and recording keeping of vivarium supplies and animals and ensuring the maintenance of equipment and upkeep of the vivarium facility. 

 

The qualified candidate must be knowledgeable of and possess former experience with authoring SOP?s related to animal husbandry and vivarium procedures and ensuring animal handling regulatory compliance.  Applicants must meet the minimum position education and experience requirements as summarized below.

Education

H.S. Diploma required; Bachelors Degree in life science discipline is desirable

 

H.S. Diploma required; Bachelors Degree in life science discipline is preferred

 

AALAS Certification

LAT level required

LATG level desired

Manager level a plus

LATG level required

Manager level preferred

Experience

? 5+ years animal care and husbandry experience within a research setting

? 2-3 years experience coordinating/performing vivarium operations activities such as purchasing, scheduling and equipment maintenance

? At least 1 year experience supervising animal husbandry personnel

 

? 8+ years animal care and husbandry experience within a research setting

? 3+ years coordinating & performing vivarium operations management activities such as purchasing, scheduling and equipment maintenance

? At least 2 years experience directly supervising vivarium/research technician personnel

? Prior experience/involvement in IACUC protocol development

Desired Experience

? Direct involvement with principle investigators during protocol development, IACUC during protocol approval and scientists during protocol implementation. (Experience required at manager level)

 

? Previous experience as a member of the IACUC
