DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIESManage custodial and maintenance personnel when the Building Manager is not on site. Maintain the building in good working order and be sure that the building is clean and that all systems are functioning properly.During your shifts, implement the daily room set up schedule using the Facility Request forms.  When on duty, respond in a timely professional manner to requests from the staff, lay leaders, and congregants.  Provide building services during Starlite Catering functions per their contract with VBS. Work with the Building Manager to prepare all work schedules and work assignments to provide proper coverage during all hours that the building is operating.  Assist the Building Manager to evaluate all custodial and maintenance personnel to be sure that we have the right number of people working the right number of hours.  Pay attention to overtime hours and work to reduce excessive overtime.Work with management to reduce costs where possible.Perform routine maintenance and repairs as needed.  Find the best people to do what needs to be done.  When appropriate, you or your workers are to do the work.  Other duties & responsibilities as assigned

 

SKILLS & REQUIREMENTSHas experience cleaning and maintaining a large building.  Synagogue building experience is a plus. Has experience managing and scheduling custodial and maintenance workers. Is fluent in both English and Spanish.Has excellent people skills and good communication skills.  Can work effectively with workers, staff, lay people and vendors.Consistently demonstrates high degree of integrity, ownership, pride & accountability. Possesses strong diagnostic skills to understand what is wrong when problems occur.  Must be ?handy? ? able to solve problems and make repairs on the spot when needed.Is knowledgeable about major building systems.
