Custodian Floor Technician

Marillac-Custodian Floor Technician.

 

A Children?s Psychiatric residential and hospital treatment facility, in Overland Park, Kansas is looking to hire a Custodian Floor Technician. Responsible for maintaining designated areas of the facility in clean and sanitary condition. One-year certificate from college or technical school; or three to six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Cleans and sanitizes floors

 

Cleans and sanitizes designated floor areas.  Sweeps and wet mops tile area daily.  Uses floor scrubber for buffing and waxing of tiled floors according to facility schedule and as needed.  Uses personal protective equipment as needed and appropriate.  Uses appropriate signage and protection to warn personnel and clients of wet floors or other safety considerations.  Vacuums carpet areas according to facility schedule.  Spot-treats carpet stains as identified and needed.  Schedules and performs carpet extraction and deep cleaning as needed and according to facility schedule.

 

Removes and properly disposes of trash and waste

 

Collects trash from designated areas according to facility schedule.  Disposes of trash in the appropriate location.  Handles waste using appropriate universal precautions.  Disposes of sharps containers and other biohazard materials in safe and appropriate manner.  Clean and sanitize waste storage containers and trashcans as needed.

 

Cleans and disinfects non-floor areas of facility

 

Cleans and sanitizes bathroom walls, stalls, counters, sinks and bathroom fixtures daily according to facility schedule.  Restocks bathrooms with paper products and cleaning products daily and as needed.  Disinfects and cleans horizontal surfaces within offices as needed and according to facility schedule.  Cleans up after accidents or illnesses.



Inspects cleanliness and condition of facility and reports or repairs as appropriate

 

Constantly observes condition of facility and reports identified problems for repair.  Regularly communicates with Supervisor regarding problems.  Turns in Work Orders as soon as problems are noted.  Completes safety and incident reports as required by standards and Marillac Policies.  Performs minor repairs as needed.

 

Maintains workshop, storage areas, other areas of facility and equipment clean, orderly and in operating condition

 

Conducts regular visual inspections.  Maintains compliance with applicable Joint Commission and life and safety standards.

 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

 

The Facility Maintenance department works as a team to ensure the facility maintains safety, security and sanitation throughout. 

 

 OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES:

? Demonstrates ability to operate power equipment for snow removal, and small power and manual hand tools for facility repair.

? Demonstrates ability to operate power equipment for floor care

? Demonstrates ability to use good judgment in carrying out all phases of work assignments.

? Demonstrates responsibility to complete tasks in neat and professional fashion, and within levels of competency. 

? Willingness to work additional hours as may be required, and to be contacted by beeper for handling emergency situations.
