Facilities Engineer 06-07 Raytheon Polar Services - Experience Antarctica

Raytheon Polar Services is the primary contractor for the National Science Foundation?s (NSF) U.S. Antarctic Program. We are currently looking for a Facilities Engineer to deploy to McMurdo, South Pole or Palmer research stations on a contract basis beginning in August of 2006.
There are three lengths for the contracts: Summer-August or October through February, Winter-February through October, and Year-Long-October through October. We are looking for Primary and Alternate employees to fill all contract positions. The Primary is first in line for the position. The Alternate is next in line to deploy should the Primary be unable to meet deployment requirements.
Responsibilities
? Supervises on site engineering related to facilities in Antarctica.
? Responsible for design, budgeting and execution of engineering, maintenance and small construction/modification projects.
? Responsible for the scope definition, specification, budgeting and write up of larger engineering and maintenance projects.
? Responsible for facilities assessments with regard to all engineering disciplines, civil, structural, mechanical, electrical, architectural and controls, particularly DDC and will define, work orders, small projects and large projects to address deficiencies found.
? Keeps the Facilities Manager, and while deployed, the Maintenance Coordinator informed of the status of engineering and maintenance activities, and assists in the development of programs and budgets.
? Provides assistance to construction on engineering related matters such as: design and specification clarifications and changes, code issues, as-built drawings, field engineering, DDC issues and scheduling.
? Assists in the development, implementation, and supervision of the preventive maintenance and work control programs.
Qualifications
? BS in Engineering required.
? Direct Digital Control (DDC) or PLC necessary.
? Depth of Safety training required.
? At least seven years of increasing responsibility in the supervision of facilities engineering activities required.
? Must be highly knowledgeable in building systems to include, HVAC, boilers, furnaces, hydronic heating systems, DDC and thermostatic controls, plumbing and electrical systems, energy conservation and fire protection.
? Experience supervising project design, specification preparation and review, project scheduling, and project cost estimating is helpful.

Knowledge of water purification and power generation facilities desired .
? Professional Engineer (P.E.) registration desired.
? Experience in the development, implementation, and supervision of preventive maintenance and work control systems is highly desirable.
