Fire Systems Foreman 06-07 Raytheon Polar Services - Experience Antarctica

Raytheon Polar Services is the primary contractor for the National Science Foundation?s (NSF) U.S. Antarctic Program. We are currently looking for Fire Systems Foremen to deploy to McMurdo, South Pole or Palmer research stations on a contract basis beginning in August of 2006.


There are three lengths for the contracts: Summer-August or October through February, Winter-February through October, and Year-Long-October through October. We are looking for Primary and Alternate employees to fill all contract positions. The Primary is first in line for the position. The Alternate is next in line to deploy should the Primary be unable to meet deployment requirements.



Duties and Responsibilities

? Supervises the activities of Fire Systems Technicians, Fire Systems Technician Apprentices, Fire Systems Technician Helpers, and General Field Assistants.

? Accomplishes hands-on fire systems tasks on maintenance and construction projects in Antarctica.

? Organizes the work force and assigns duties.

? Advises the Coordinator, Maintenance and/or Coordinator, Construction on job progress, material requirements, and personnel matters.

? Accomplishes various projects utilizing design drawings, specifications, and wiring diagrams.

? Handles confidential matters (personnel actions, management reports, etc.) in accordance with management policy.

? Interacts with the National Science Foundation, military and other agency officials, both over the telephone and in person, in a professional and tactful manner.

? Communicates professionally, both orally and in writing, with subordinates as needed to relay information they need in order to be successful in their jobs. This includes, but is not limited to, staff meetings, performance appraisals, job requirements, division metrics, projects, Quality Standard Procedures, and safety practices.

? Responsible for implementing and maintaining a safe workplace program and ensuring that safety is the highest priority in the workplace.

? Must be able to lift 40 pounds.

? May be required to work outside on various job sites in extreme cold weather conditions.

Experience





? State/local certification or NICET III or higher Fire Alarms certification is mandatory .

? Journeyman Electrician license highly desirable.

? Factory training on the specified systems, or verified field training on a variety of alarm systems under the direction of a licensed or certified installer is required.

? At least five years of documented experience in all phases of fire systems work, including rough wiring, wiring of devices and panels, and layout and installation of alarm devices and other systems components.

? At least two of the five years must be in a foreman or supervisory position. Experience in repair and maintenance of fire alarm systems is required.

? Ability to read design drawings and wiring diagrams is also required

? High School Degree, or GED


Contract compensation includes reimbursement of expenses to physically qualify, weekly salary, travel to and from the ice, room & board, and you are eligible for a performance based bonus upon successful completion of your contract. Check out our website at
