Due to needs at the lab, the following career opportunity is now available - GROUNDSKEEPER in the FACILITIES ENGINEERING SERVICES SECTION (FESS)/SERVICES GROUP.

Responsibilities
Perform tasks to maintain the roads, grounds, and related facilities on the Fermilab site. Responsible for following all applicable Fermilab Environment, Safety and Health (ES&H) rules and regulations in the performance of assigned duties. Required to perform minor repairs and maintenance on the equipment used.

Essential Functions
Operate push mowers, power trimmers, blowers and chain saws.
Operate landscape construction equipment, heavy equipment and farm equipment.
Perform landscape construction and maintenance: plant and maintain trees, shrubs, bedding plants, turf and tall grass prairie.
Remove dead trees and brush, picks up debris on grounds.
Assist with bison care.
Maintain roadways and parking lots.
Maintain and repair gates and fencing.
Remove snow from sidewalks, parking lots and roads.
Some overtime will be mandatory.
Will be required to perform heavy physical labor.

Requirements
Previous experience in landscape construction and maintenance, or heavy equipment operations and maintenance, or formal training or experience in ornamental horticulture.
Ability and willingness to obtain and maintain a State of Illinois Class B, CDL license.
Ability and willingness to obtain a pesticide operators license.
Pesticide application experience is highly desirable.
Snow removal experience is highly desirable.
Some computer experience is desirable.
