Process Equipment Operator

Holds a general responsibility for monitoring process and equipment mechanical operations, basic building maintenance, basic preventive maintenance, minor emergency repairs, and supervised adjustments. Also responsible for the performance of general facilities work orders and repairs.
Accountability:
* Provides timely and accurate monitoring and logging of critical processes and process parameters as outlined in SOPs and the Operator?s Check List.
* Accountable for the proper performance of area SOPs and basic equipment and facility PMs as assigned by the lead equipment operator and or maintenance management.
* Accountable for knowledge of and adhering to all company guidelines, policies, and procedures as outlined in the Employee Handbook and SOPs.
* Adhering to safety codes and guidelines for ones self and others throughout the plant. This requires adhering to safety procedures and to avoid situations which could lead to chemical and steam burns, reactions to toxic fumes and moving equipment which could result in injury.
* Shall maintain current training on all related cGMP SOPs as issued by Maintenance Management and/or GLLs training department.
* Shall maintain a basic set of personal tools at his own cost as specified in the tool list supplied by the Maintenance Management. Specialized tools will be provided by the company and available through the tool shed as approved by Maintenance Management.
Responsibilities:
* Has a general responsibility to support installation, preventative maintenance, emergency repairs, and modifications upgrading hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical, and mechanical systems pertaining to facilities equipment.
* Completes and understands training programs and assumes responsibilities as a boiler attendant and process machinery operator for equipment such as an RO system, distillation units, storage tanks, chillers, cooling towers, air handlers, air compressors, vacuum pumps, clean steam generators, refrigeration units, house vacuum systems, freeze dryers, and dust collector systems.
* Maintains log books, instrument readings, and files on preventative maintenance activities, emergency maintenance activities, equipment printouts, and assures proper operation of all facilities equipment. Responsible for the understanding of proper use of maintenance documentation required under cGMPs. Examples include: Maintenance Work Order system, CSCR system, SOP documentation, and the use of Equipment Log Books.
* Completing assignments in a timely manner from detailed engineering drawings, specifications, logic diagrams, schematics, verbal and written instructions.
* Completes emergency repairs when necessary to offset downtime and production delays.
* During night hours, weekends, and holidays accepts responsibility as the individual in charge of plant operations.
* Uses initiative to work with a minimum of supervision and guidance.
* Is available for emergency call backs as required and is flexible towards work hours including holiday and plant shutdown periods.
Requirements:
* High School diploma or equivalent. Completion of vocational courses in areas such as mechanics, electrical, refrigeration, HVAC, or Freeze drying is desirable. Experience in pharmaceutical equipment maintenance helpful.
* Experience in repairs, installation, maintenance, and modifications to equipment such as: boilers, RO systems, chillers, freeze dryers, WFI distribution systems, cooling towers, HVAC systems. One (1) to two (2) years experience as a technician or mechanic preferably in a pharmaceutical environment. Technical schooling background is preferred and would be considered an asset.
* Good oral and written English communication skills is a must.
* Ability to use maintenance tools, precision instruments and testing equipment safely and accurately.
* May be required to operate heavy equipment such as a fork lift.
* Technician must not have any known allergies or reactions to antibiotics. Exposure to high temperatures, dirty working conditions and high elevations when repairing some equipment may be necessary. Occasionally will be required to work outside.
* Moderate to heavy physical effort consisting of bending, lifting, climbing on ladders, moving and installing heavy equipment. Disassembly of equipment and some maintenance in awkward places and positions.
