Assistant Vice President, Corporate Mergers & Acquisitions

Challenging position as an integral member of the team driving the strategic M&A and corporate development initiatives of New York Life.  The qualified candidate will be a key member of the team working with the Life & Annuities, Investment Management, International and Special Markets business units to develop and refine strategic business initiatives and to identify, evaluate and execute M&A transactions in support of those initiatives.  The Corporate Development team has highly visible exposure across the organization and is heavily relied upon to drive the Company?s strategic planning and corporate development agenda.


Responsibilities will include but not be limited to:

? Work jointly with business units to identify and evaluate potential acquisition opportunities

? Perform all activities in relation to the financial modeling/valuation and economic analysis required for a project or transaction

? Interface with functional areas within New York Life and provide support on all aspects of the transaction process including due diligence, structuring, documentation, and negotiation of terms

? Prepare internal approval memorandums and presentations that clearly and concisely present complex issues and key transaction considerations to diverse, interdisciplinary teams, including senior management

? Gather research and competitive intelligence and prepare profiles on competitors and potential acquisition opportunities

? Prepare analyses and reports on key trends and issues impacting the industry and the organization.

? Identify, research and analyze business opportunities that support our development and growth by synthesizing public information on diverse topics

? Work effectively with senior business leaders, team members and peers both internally and externally (consultants, bankers & industry organizations)

? Handle special projects related to any business requests

 

Requirements for Position:

? Two to three years of prior investment banking/financial analyst/M&A experience.  MBA preferred

? Strong analytical skills including financial modeling, accounting and valuation experience

? Solid understanding of financial concepts such as DCF, NPV, IRR, etc.

? Detail oriented with excellent communications (both written and verbal) and interpersonal skills

? Strong relationship building and partnering skills Capable of multi-tasking in a fast paced environment Excellent time management, planning and organizational skillsA decision maker with presence and judgment and the ability to contribute individually as well as part of a teamMust have excellent PC skills, including the entire Microsoft suite and various internet search techniques
